It’s so easy to renew any old item and we will share with you a complete step by step guide.
How can you give an old coffee table, chair, and flower pots a new lease on life? What colours should you choose, and what is the best way to paint them?
Yiakou, a well-known street artist, has some valuable tips for you! The images below show his most recent creation, a recycled barrel which he turned into a beautiful piece of art.
Let’s see how he pulled it off:
STEP 1
It is important that you use spray paints for the success of your project. Yiakou suggests spray paints for three reasons. Firstly, because it completely coats the object, secondly, because it dries in under a minute, and finally, because it applies to any surface without any special preparation. Yiakou says “we support every Greek product, but on the other hand
FLAME™ sprays are the sprays of “graffiti,” which means that the good craftsman chooses his materials correctly,” this brand of spray paint is our first choice and it’s Greek.
STEP 2
Shake the spray very well so that the colour inside is mixed properly. How do you know it is ready? Inside each spray paint there is a small metal ball that hits the walls once you shake it. If you hear it very easily – like a musical instrument – it means that your spray is ready for action!
STEP 3
Use your finger to touch the middle of the pressure valve located at the top of the spray. The less surface of the valve you touch with your finger, the less chance there is that the spray will drip, because this is related to the pressure you will exert on it.
STEP 4
Test the spray paint two to three steps away from your object.
STEP 5
You can now start colouring the surface by pressing the valve. The time it takes to get from one place to another is a major consideration as you go about this procedure. Dripping will occur if you move too slowly, and uneven colouring may result if you move too quickly. Maintaining a steady rate ensures optimal coverage.
STEP 6
If you have grabbed more than one hue, there are various tricks you may use to make something unique. You can make a sunset by layering orange over pink, for instance. The spray must be positioned distant from the transition zone between the two colours for this to work. By doing this, you reduce the spray’s opacity and get the desired effect by holding the can five to six fingers away (or further) from the target object.
STEP 7
Always keep in mind that srpay painting is as cool as playing a game. The more you set your mind free, the more unique and stunning the end result will be. Oh! And don’t forget to show us your own piece of art by tagging us in our social media pages!
